Research

My current research examines the effects of storing CO₂ in the deep sea. In particular, I am looking at the effects on harpacticoid copepods (a small crustacean). As part of that work, I am creating a key of the harpacticoid copepods at our research site in Monterey Canyon and describing the ecologically important species. In order to detect an effect, we are testing for changes in community structure, abundance, depth distribution, lipid (an energy storage metabolite) content, and condition index.
