Research

My research focuses on the state of suspended development called diapause which occurs in the eggs of several species of copepod. Diapause requires a period of time to pass before development resumes and the eggs then hatch. I will initially focus on determining the number of cells and the intracellular pH of the eggs of several species of copepods. Next I will try to terminate diapause before the required time period has elapsed. Finally I will check to determine if there are any biochemical changes due to forcing the nauplii to hatch early.
