1. Global Change, Its Scientific and Human Dimensions (ISC 2003) - Fall 2004

Understanding climate variability in earth's and human's history, current climate change and the impact on and by humans. In a first part of the course, the scientific background behind climate change will be provided, including latest estimates on climate change in the near future. The human dimension will be focus of a second part, covering current political developments, how climate change has influenced biological and cultural development of the human species, and socioeconomic scenarios for the future.

2. Catchments, Rivers and Estuaries (OCC5930)

Coastal and marine preservation attempts can only be successful if processes within the entire aquatic system, including rivers and their catchments, are considered. This course offers an integrated and multidisciplinary approach to understand the complex interactions within the water cycle.
